About Uncovr

Uncovr is building AI-powered infrastructure for the future of surgery.

We work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, surgical video, clinical workflows, and healthcare technology. Our mission is to help surgical teams better understand, document, and improve surgical procedures by turning complex clinical data into structured, useful, and trustworthy insights.

We are a fast-moving startup working on technically ambitious problems with real-world clinical impact. As we expand our platform, we are looking for an AI Engineer to help build, test, and improve the AI systems that power our product.

About the Role

We are looking for an Senior AI Engineer to help develop reliable, accurate, and production-ready AI capabilities for complex clinical workflows.

In this role, you will work on AI system development, model integration, evaluation, testing, and production readiness. You will collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to turn product requirements into AI capabilities that are useful, reliable, and scalable.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who wants to build practical AI systems in production, not just experiment with models in isolation.

Key Responsibilities

Build, test, and improve AI systems that support Uncovr’s product.

  • Work on AI workflows, model integration, evaluation, and production readiness.

  • Integrate language models, multimodal models, and AI services into product and backend systems.

  • Help improve AI system reliability, accuracy, latency, and robustness.

  • Build and maintain evaluation workflows for AI outputs across product use cases.

  • Test AI capabilities against real-world clinical and product scenarios.

  • Help identify uncertainty, edge cases, failure modes, and inconsistent outputs.

  • Support the development of validation layers that make AI outputs more reliable and useful.

  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate requirements into working AI capabilities.

  • Contribute to logging, monitoring, error handling, documentation, and test coverage.

  • Analyze feedback, corrections, and evaluation results to improve system behavior over time.

  • Document AI workflows, assumptions, limitations, and known failure modes clearly.

What We’re Looking For

Experience in AI engineering, applied ML, backend engineering, software engineering, or a related technical role.

  • Strong Python skills and good software engineering fundamentals.

  • Experience working with language models, multimodal models, AI APIs, or model-driven systems.

  • Practical understanding of how to build, test, and debug AI-enabled product workflows.

  • Ability to reason about AI system behavior, including errors, uncertainty, hallucinations, and failure modes.

  • Experience integrating AI capabilities into backend services or product workflows.

  • Familiarity with evaluation, testing, benchmarking, or quality checks for AI outputs.

  • Ability to work closely with product, engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with complex workflows.

  • Clear communication skills and a willingness to document technical decisions, assumptions, and limitations.

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment.

Nice to Have

Experience with multimodal AI systems, vision-language models, or AI systems using complex data.

  • Experience with video understanding, computer vision, medical imaging, or healthcare AI.

  • Familiarity with retrieval, structured outputs, evaluation pipelines, or AI observability.

  • Experience building evaluation datasets, scoring workflows, or benchmark suites.

  • Experience with human-in-the-loop systems or expert feedback workflows.

  • Familiarity with MLOps, model deployment, or AI infrastructure.

  • Experience working in regulated, high-trust, or safety-critical environments.

  • Interest in surgery, clinical workflows, medical technology, and healthcare AI.

Who You Are

You are technical, curious, and motivated by building AI systems that work reliably in real-world settings.

You enjoy experimenting with AI systems, but you also care about testing, validation, edge cases, and production quality. You are interested in how AI behaves, where it fails, and how engineering can make it more accurate, transparent, and useful.

You are comfortable working closely with product teams, engineers, and domain experts. You communicate clearly, learn quickly, and want to contribute to technology with real clinical impact.

Why Join Uncovr

At Uncovr, you will help build and improve the AI systems behind a new generation of surgical intelligence tools.

This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to work on practical AI development, evaluation, and production readiness in a fast-moving healthcare technology company.
